Lattice is built to be useful, not to harvest your data. Here is exactly what happens when you use the site.
Lattice has no user accounts, no login, no sign-up. Your saved collections and preferences stay in your browser. General usage analytics are anonymized (see below). If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email is linked to your browsing activity so I can understand how subscribers use the site and improve the product.
Your collections, bookmarks, and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. If you clear your browser data, it is gone.
Lattice uses PostHog (EU instance, hosted at eu.i.posthog.com) to understand how people use the site. This tracks page views, button clicks, and general usage patterns. PostHog uses localStorage instead of cookies. Your IP address is collected but anonymized by PostHog's EU infrastructure.
Lattice uses Sentry to catch and fix bugs. When something breaks, Sentry captures the error details, browser info, and a replay of the session so I can debug the issue. IP addresses are collected as part of this process.
If you subscribe to the weekly digest, your email address is stored in our database (Supabase, hosted in the US) and shared with Resend for email delivery. Your email is also linked to your anonymous analytics profile in PostHog so I can understand how subscribers use Lattice. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any digest email.
Lattice does not use cookies for tracking. PostHog stores its identifier in localStorage, not cookies.
There are no ads on Lattice. Your data is never sold, shared with third-party marketers, or used for advertising purposes.
All research papers shown on Lattice come from public sources: Semantic Scholar, arXiv, and HuggingFace. Lattice does not produce or host the papers themselves.
Lattice is created by Flynn Lachendro. If you have any questions about how your data is handled, feel free to reach out.
