This paper introduces a smoothness criterion for Fano varieties with quotient singularities, specifically addressing the case of Lagrangian fibrations from compact hyper-Kähler manifolds. The criterion is then applied to prove that the base of such a fibration, when possessing quotient singularities, must be a projective space. This result provides a powerful tool for classifying and understanding hyper-Kähler manifolds with specific singularity structures.
Lagrangian fibrations over singular bases are revealed to always land on projective spaces.
We establish a smoothness criterion for Fano varieties with quotient singularities. As an application, we show that if $X\to B$ is a Lagrangian fibration from a compact hyper-Kähler manifold and $B$ has quotient singularities, then $B$ is a projective space.
