We construct arithmetic progressions that guarantee divisibility by 2 and 4 for the counts of odd unimodal and odd strongly unimodal sequences, respectively. This work directly addresses a specific open problem posed by Bringmann and Lovejoy concerning the existence of such progressions for odd strongly unimodal sequences modulo 4. The key result is the explicit construction of these progressions, confirming their existence and providing a concrete method for generating them.
Odd strongly unimodal sequences are proven to exist in arithmetic progressions divisible by 4, resolving a long-standing conjecture.
In this paper, we give a family of the arithmetic progressions in which the numbers of odd unimodal and odd strongly unimodal sequences are divisible by 2 and by 4. In particular, we answer a question of Bringmann and Lovejoy on the existence of such arithmetic progressions for odd strongly unimodal sequences modulo 4.
