This paper investigates symmetric 2-designs with specific structural properties, namely flag-transitive point-primitive automorphism groups G and gcd(k, λ) = p where p is prime. The authors prove that such groups G must belong to one of two classes: affine type or almost simple type. This classification significantly narrows down the possible structures of these combinatorial objects.
Symmetric 2-designs with gcd(k, λ) = p and flag-transitive, point-primitive automorphism groups are restricted to affine or almost simple types.
We study symmetric 2-(v, k, λ) designs admitting a flag-transitive point-primitive subgroup G of automorphisms, where gcd(k, λ) = p and p is a prime. In this paper, we show that G is of affine or almost simple type.
