This paper investigates the characterization of observable sets for the 1D Schrödinger equation with the potential $|x|$, proving that a measurable set is observable at all positive times if and only if it is "thick." Furthermore, the observability constant is shown to be uniform for sets with fixed thickness parameters, resolving a conjecture by Gengsheng Wang. This work establishes a precise link between the geometric property of thickness and the analytical property of observability for this specific quantum mechanical system.
A set's "thickness" precisely dictates its observability for the $|x|$ potential Schrödinger equation across all positive times.
In this paper, we study observable sets for the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation associated with the operator $H=-d^2/dx^2+|x|$ on $L^2(\mathbb R)$. We prove that a measurable set is observable at every positive time if and only if it is thick. For each fixed observation time, the observability constant is uniform over all measurable sets with prescribed thickness parameters. The theorem answers the question concerning the relationship between thick and observable set raised by Gengsheng Wang [12] for this anharmonic oscillator.
