This paper investigates the distribution of $E_2$-numbers—integers composed of exactly two distinct prime factors—to bound the gaps between clusters of almost-primes. Improving these bounds is central to fine-tuning modern sieve theory and understanding multiplicative rough structures relevant to pseudorandomness and integer factorization. The author unconditionally establishes that the limit inferior of gaps between the $n$th and $(n+\rho)$th $E_2$-number satisfies $\liminf_{n\to\infty}(q_{n+\rho}-q_n) \leq \exp((\pi+\varepsilon)\sqrt{\rho})$ for any $\varepsilon>0$ and sufficiently large $\rho$.
Gaps between clusters of semiprimes shrink unconditionally to $\exp((\pi+\varepsilon)\sqrt{\rho})$ via an exact variational solution to Sono's sieve.
Let $q_n$ denote the $n$th product of two distinct primes. By completing a square in Sono's sieve and solving the resulting one-dimensional variational problem, we prove unconditionally that, for every $\varepsilon>0$ and all sufficiently large integers $ρ$, \[ \liminf_{n\to\infty}(q_{n+ρ}-q_n) \leq \exp\left((π+\varepsilon)\sqrtρ\right). \]
