The authors resolve an open classification problem initiated by Case and Wang by establishing a rigidity theorem of Obata type on the upper hemisphere for Riemannian manifolds with boundary. Characterizing metrics with prescribed boundary and interior curvature operators is fundamental for understanding conformal invariants and fully nonlinear elliptic equations on manifolds. By extending the classical Obata-Escobar argument, the paper proves that any metric conformally equivalent to the standard metric that is $\sigma_k$-flat with positive constant boundary $\mathcal{B}_k$-curvature is uniquely determined by conformal transformations.
Conformal structures on the hemisphere strictly collapse to the standard round metric under vanishing interior $\sigma_k$-curvature and constant boundary $\mathcal{B}_k$-curvature, closing a major rigidity question in fully nonlinear conformal geometry.
On the upper hemisphere, we use the Obata-Escobar argument to establish an Obata theorem for $σ_k$-flat and positive constant boundary $\mathcal B_k$-curvature equation, which was initiated by Case-Wang [Adv. Math. 337 (2018), 83-106].
