The authors establish scale-invariant mass estimates for PDE-constrained measures restricted to thin sets of $\sigma$-finite $\mathcal{H}^m$-measure under an algebraic rank condition on the differential operator. This resolves a key challenge in geometric measure theory regarding mass concentration along lower-dimensional singular sets. Leveraging these estimates, the authors prove an anisotropic Michael–Simon inequality for varifolds with bounded first variation under the natural atomic condition (AC1).
PDE-constrained measures cannot arbitrarily concentrate mass on lower-dimensional thin sets, unlocking a long-sought anisotropic Michael–Simon inequality for general singular varifolds.
We prove mass estimates for PDE-constrained measures on sets of $σ$-finite ${\mathcal H}^m$-measure, assuming an appropriate rank condition. As an application, we derive a Michael--Simon inequality for varifolds with bounded anisotropic first variation with respect to an integrand that satisfies the natural atomic condition (AC1).
