Addressing the Nekovář-Scholl plectic conjecture, this work constructs a non-trivial component of the plectic Galois Lie algebra action on the locally analytic $p$-adically completed cohomology of Hilbert modular varieties. This realization provides fundamental structural control over representations appearing in the $p$-adic Langlands program for totally real fields. As a primary consequence, the authors establish a new vanishing theorem for the completed cohomology of Hilbert modular varieties strictly below the middle degree.
Partial Sen operators finally unlock the hidden plectic symmetries of Hilbert modular varieties, settling long-standing vanishing behaviors in completed cohomology below the middle degree.
We construct some part of the plectic Galois action on the locally analytic $p$-adically completed cohomology of Hilbert modular varieties, predicted by the plectic conjecture of Nekovář-Scholl. As a byproduct, we prove a vanishing result for the completed cohomology of Hilbert modular varieties below middle degree. To do this, we make use of the partial Sen operators constructed earlier by a geometric method.
