Despite exhibiting minimal spin-phonon coupling at its Curie temperature, 2D ferromagnet AgVP$_2$Se$_6$ conceals an unexpected structural transition near 100 K and an optically dark upper Hubbard band that resolves its massive transport-optical gap discrepancy.
