This paper introduces a novel extension of the Bradley-Terry model to handle multiplayer games, enabling ranking of players in scenarios beyond pairwise comparisons. The authors adapt Newman's algorithm for efficient computation of model parameters in this extended framework. Empirical validation on both synthetic and real-world card game data (Whist) demonstrates the applicability and potential of the proposed ranking method.
Ranking players in multiplayer games just got easier with a new twist on an old model.
We propose a novel extension of the Bradley-Terry model to multiplayer games and adapt a recent algorithm by Newman [1] to our model. We demonstrate the use of our proposed method on synthetic datasets and on a real dataset of games of cards.
